Implant Prostheses

Implant protheses

For patients without any remaining teeth, implantology offers two possibilities: removable, implant-supported prostheses or a permanent row of teeth, which is screwed into place. In both cases, the advantages compared to classic dentures attached by using dental adhesive are evident: Dentures attached to implants have a secure fit, which prevents painful pressure spots when chewing. There is no irritation on the gums caused by denture material, and patients can once again enjoy their meals.

How many implants are required for fixing such a dental prosthesis?

In most cases, four implants are inserted if there are no more teeth in the jaw. This quantity is based on a recommendation of the German Dentistry Association (DGZMK). With a two-implant solution, it is possible to stabilize a prosthesis. However, a purely implant-supported prosthesis with better wearing comfort can be better realized with four or six implants.

Implant protheses

If you opt for a permanent, non-removable row of teeth, the usual recommendation is six implants in the lower jaw and eight in the upper jaw. The exact number can first be defined after a thorough diagnosis.
